Important cold-weather update from the City of St. Paul on support for unsheltered residents:
With the ongoing extreme cold weather, all partners serving our residents experiencing homelessness have continued to actively coordinate support and services to ensure additional resources are available - including additional overnight and day-time capacity.
To assist residents in need getting to indoor options, we have transportation available through the Saint Paul Fire Department Basic Life Support (BLS) Unit, Ramsey County, and Metro Transit Police. Our Saint Paul Police Department, and members of our COAST Unit, which pairs officers with social workers, will also continue to connect with people in need to support and shelter through this cold weather.
To help connect someone in need to indoor options, everyone can contact St. Paul Police non-emergency at 651-291-1111 or Ramsey County at 651-266-7818. Referrals can also be made by emailing [email protected].
There is NO CHARGE to individuals for the rooms being provided.
An important resource we now have available is Freedom House, located at 296 W 7th Street.
Freedom House is open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm and offers showers, laundry, and quiet semi-private rooms with bed to sleep. The phone number is 651-789-8875. In cases where staff and volunteers at Freedom House are a more trusted resource than the city, they can be more successful in helping a resident in need. https://listeninghouse.org/.
