Join us for a workshop focused on deepening your skills as a community leader– specifically, building an analysis of power, and how to expand our organizing reach through direct conversations with neighbors that connect with their own interests. Participants will leave with actionable tools to begin organizing your neighbors to help us build people power here on the West Side!

We’ll be taking a look back at WSCO’s organizing wins over the past 50 years, and the key issues we’re fighting for in 2024. You’ll hear from WSCO Executive Director Monica Bravo, seasoned West Side community organizers Mayra Avila and Joshua Toor, and other members of our team. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with our staff, board, and fellow community leaders from our tenant union, land use action circle, and other key areas of our work.
Updated date: The first workshop will be held on Saturday, May 18th, from 9:30AM-12:00PM here at the West Side Community Organization, 209 Page St. W. Refreshments will be provided.
Who it's for
This kickoff session is intended for West Side neighbors who have already been involved in our work: board members, participants in our Housing Justice, Land Use, Environmental Justice, and other community Action Circles, or folks who have been involved in our community events.
Are you newer to our work? Don't worry! Keep an eye out for upcoming workshops in our West Side Power community organizing workshop series. Future workshops will be open to the public and focus on building organizing skills from the ground up.
Not sure if it's for you? Reach out to Katrina Mendoza at [email protected] and she'll help you find the workshop that's the best fit.
