Public Works Winter Roads Update

By Genevieve Roudané  ·  February 13, 2021

Happy Valentine's day!

Let's show some love for our neighbors working to keep the roads clear and safe for all of us!

Roads

Public Works will continue responding to the extremely cold conditions over the next few days.

  • We will have our standard weekend and overnight crews staffed to monitor and treat the streets as needed.
  • We are using a 50/50 mix of treated salt and sand, which works better in these temperatures. Sand provides traction no matter the temperature, and the sun is surprisingly good at getting surface temps of the pavement up to where the salt helps on arterial streets especially.
  • Residents and businesses can report problem areas and request salting with our street maintenance division at 651-266-9700.
  • Remember to follow us on Twitter (@stpaulpublicw), or go to our main web page: https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/public-works
