Thank you, West Side!
Many thanks to everyone who helped make our 50th Anniversary Celebration a success! Last Sunday, over 150 West Siders joined us in marking this important milestone.
Neighbors gathered to savor delicious food, explore a timeline of our history, connect with our organizers and with dozens of community organizations, and enjoy performances from Shaila Carbajal, Bella Mendoza aka Ms. Poetic Justice, and playwright Johanna Keller Flores.
We heard from many special guest speakers, including Humboldt Principal Dr. Valerie Littles-Butler, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, and proclamation from Ramsey County Commissioner Rafael Ortega declaring November 5th WSCO Day. Javier Morillo-Alicea delivered a moving and funny keynote address, and Representative Maria Isa Pérez-Vega rallied us to stay united as a neighborhood.
We celebrated the 2023 West Sider of the Year, and elected new members to our 2024 Board of Directors.

From the Humboldt High School student volunteers to the West Siders who ran for our board, we were surrounded by community members who truly believe in the power of our neighborhood. Thank you for making it such a special day.
And, of course, a shout out to our event sponsors!
Here's to another 50 years of building community power on the West Side!
