A message from West Sider Melissa Pfeiffer and our wonderful neighbors who've worked hard this year at the Capitol View Communal Garden:
This Saturday looks to be a beautiful day for the Capitol View Communal Garden Fall Harvest Gathering. We hope to see everyone there at the top of the Smith Ave. High Bridge from 3-7pm this Saturday, September 30th.
We've got a lot to celebrate with so much food grown and enjoyed this year; many new perennials going in including honeyberries, rhubarb, and elderberry; lots of new connections made with neighbors and new friendships; and a permit to host beehives at the garden (hopefully next season).
We'll have lots of good food including beans cooked over a fire, fresh tortillas and gorditas, pozole, ratatouille, rhubarb cake, and so much more! The open mic is still on to share your talents or just enjoy others'. Cherokee Boulevard will be blocked off for the festivities and we'll have activities for kids including face painting.
Feel free to bring a dish to share if you would like (or enjoy others')! There will be plenty of fun and food to go around, so invite your friends and neighbors too!
And that butternut squash is still beautiful and ready to send home with folks!
