“WHAT TO EXPECT DURING SEWER REHABILITATION”
CITY OF ST PAUL SEWER LINING PROJECT
Spring Thru Fall 2020
The City of St Paul needs to rehabilitate the sanitary sewer that serves your property. Instead of digging up the street and installing a new sewer pipe, the sewer will be repaired by installing a pipe liner within the existing sewer. There is no assessment to property owners for this work. The cost of this work is funded by your sewer usage fees.

What you need to do:
• Watch for notification from contractor via door hanger, telephone, or face to face.
• Property owners and/or building managers: please distribute this notification postcard.
• Adhere to parking restrictions and temporary traffic control measures.
On the day of sewer lining:
o Your sewer service will be blocked and out of service.
o Please pour one gallon of water into all floor drains to restrict potential odors.
o Please don't use water. Water usage will cause your sewer to back-up.
• If you smell a glue-like odor inside your house and/or experience sewer problems, contact the City Inspector.
• If your property isn’t indicated on this postcard, you can use water but it’s still advised to pour water in your drains.
What the contractor will do:
• Mobilize equipment, restrict parking, and install temporary traffic control measures.
• Clean the sewer and rehabilitate it by installing a sewer liner.
• Notify you one week prior to blocking off your sewer service.
• Notify you one day prior to blocking off your sewer service.
• Block off your sewer service on the day of sewer lining.
Project Note from Luke Holifield:
"This project has not begun yet, but the furthest out I can let you know when the work would occur is 3 weeks.
There are only two streets we will be working on in Ward 2: One in the West Side district and one in the Capitol River district.
Respectively, these two streets are Stevens St, between Robert St and State St, and Wacouta St, between 4th St and Kellogg Blvd.
On both of these streets we are only putting in a short liner.
A short liner is used to cover a hole in the pipe as a minor repair; the condition of the rest of the pipe is good.
The installation of these short liners does NOT impede residents or businesses ability to use water."
