Ever wondered who benefits from development on the West Side? Or how you can make your voice heard in planning for a fair future for everyone in our neighborhood?
Join us at Our Side: an open house for equitable development! We'll have opportunities to learn about the West Side Equitable Development Scorecard, and a special interview with Kareem Smith, a West Sider with years of experience evaluating developments for affordability, accessibility, environmental impact, and more.
What is equitable development? When we talk about a equitable development, we envision a just and joyful neighborhood where new development and wealth creation benefit all West Siders – no matter what we look like or where we come from. In this neighborhood, all West Siders have access to affordable, quality housing; opportunities to build wealth; transportation; and a healthy environment.
What can I do?
Come to the open house to learn more and apply to be a member of WSCO's Equitable Development Scorecard team! Our Scorecard is an important tool we use to evaluate as a community whether new development is going to bring positive changes to our neighborhood, and if not, how it can improve to be more affordable, environmentally friendly, and accessible.
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome! We especially encourage Black, indigenous and people of color, people living with disabilities, and youth to check out the open house and apply for the Scorecard team.
