Candace Lee Hula Hooping

On September 10th, 2022, West Siders gathered in Lilydale Park– a place with a long history of police violence against Black, Indigenous, and People of Color – to spend time outdoors in community and reclaim a space that has been used for harm through joy and recreation. This year we had a variety of stations throughout the park: fishing, birding, kayaking, how to tie knots, a medicinal plants walk, Double Dutch and hula hoop, chakra alignment and meditation, and painting a canoe.
