To our neighbors on the West Side:
We are shaken by the recent incidents of racist violence in our city and around the country, and we want our neighbors to know that we are here for you.
As we mourn, we also continue organizing for joy and justice. The dreams and visions you’ve shared with us over the years have grown into opportunities to build power. In all of our work, from housing justice to environmental justice, equitable development to community care, racial justice is central to building the world we so urgently need.
We recognize and stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter Minnesota, the Coalition of Asian American Leaders - CAAL, Racial Justice Network, Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center, MIRAC - Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee, Midway Rise UP, Love First Community Engagement, COPAL MN, Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence, Oyate Hotanin, CLUES - Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio, and so many others who are doing this important work. We invite you to connect with these groups, because when we look out for one another we become stronger, safer, and more resilient.
We know that when we stand united against white supremacy and the systems that divide us, we have the power to keep each other safe. We have the power to create community spaces where all are welcome. We have the power to fight displacement and gentrification. We have the power to make a difference in our environment. Together, we’re unstoppable.
With gratitude for all the ways you show up for our community,
The WSCO Team
