Recreation as Resistance

Save the date! Saturday, September 10th from 10:30am - 1:30pm at Pickerel Lake in Lilydale Park. This is a free, family-friendly event open to all.

We are gathering in Lilydale Park– a place with a long history of police violence against Black, Indigenous, and People of Color on the West Side – to spend time outdoors in community and reclaim a space that has been used for harm through joy and recreation.

We will announce this year's activities soon! In past years, this event has included fishing, birding, kayaking, nature walks & sound pollution exploration, community art, and environmental science education, as well as an Indigenous (Dakota) blessing, and a Healing Circle to address violence against BIPOC in parks.
