WSCO is a grassroots organization organizing for systems change by building people power on the West Side. Here's a quick look at our key campaigns in 2024.
From the Flats to the Future
Our community was torn apart when the West Side Flats were torn down in the 1960s, causing economic, cultural, and environmental harm. We are organizing to learn our history, demand acknowledgement and repair, and act for justice for our community. Learn more
West Side Renter Power
We organize the West Side Tenant Union to build collective renter power in our community by sharing resources, amplifying renter voices, organizing buildings for safe and dignified living, and advocating for housing justice at the local, state, and national level. We are also exploring models of collective ownership and housing cooperatives. Learn more
Invest in the West Side
We’re building a team of neighbors to guide the creation of the West Side 10 Year Community Plan and make sure it is implemented. This is a unique opportunity to take a transformative approach to planning the future of housing, transportation, parks, infrastructure, and more in our neighborhood. Learn more
West Side Decides
West Siders in our Land Use Action Circle are organizing to ensure our community has a voice in important decisions about our built environment– from zoning and land use issues to larger projects like revitalizing Robert Street to ensuring that South Port has safe emergency egress. Learn more
West Side Businesses Unite
West Side local business owners are coming together to build power, strengthen our neighborhood’s rich cultural and economic vitality, and create strategies to build prosperity for all on the West Side. RSVP for our next event
