Indigenous Womxn Womxn of Color Caucus Training

This November, St. Paul will elect 7 City Council members and 4 School Board members. The election process officially kicks off with caucusing. At caucus, we will join our neighbors for a community meeting where we will share our stories and values, and how they connect to the issues that matter most to us. Participants will also have the opportunity to elect delegates, pass resolutions, endorse candidates (optional!), and determine priorities that will shape future plans in our area.

Despite the high impact of caucuses, many communities in St. Paul are unfamiliar with the space and the process. As Indigenous Womxn and Womxn of Color, it is important that we show up and fully participate, thereby furthering our goal to center our voices, stories, and lived experiences within our neighborhoods, our city, and government.

The West Side Community Organization (WSCO), in partnership with Guadalupe Alternative Programs (GAP), and caucus-trained Indigenous Womxn and Womxn of Color from all over the region, will be hosting a caucus training on March 3rd. Together, we will explore the ins and outs of caucusing, tips for how to engage with and inform our neighbors about how they too can join in the process, and plans for a coordinated citywide push to participate.
