At WSCO, we believe in the power of the people getting together to find solutions to our collective concerns, and envisioning a prosperous future for our neighborhood. We do this through regular community meetings, events, workshops, as well as one-one conversations with our organizers, and block-by-block outreach on the doors.
For several years, we held large monthly neighborhood meetings called West Side Voices Forums. In order to better meet the needs of our community, we will no longer be hosting thes Voices meetings– instead, we're switching to smaller, more focused meetings that address specific action areas, while also launching a series of power-building workshops.
Currently, we are holding Land Use Action Circle meetings, West Side Tenant Union meetings, West Side Community Advisory Committee Council meetings several times a month, and soon we will be convening a group to work on the West Side 10 Year Community Plan. In addition to these meetings, we invite you to come to one of the many public community gatherings!
We're excited to announce the launch of West Side Power: Organizing Workshops this March. You're invited to join us for workshops focused on deepening your skills as a community leader– specifically, building an analysis of power, and how to expand our organizing reach through direct conversations with neighbors that connect with their own interests. Participants will leave with actionable tools to begin organizing your neighbors to help us build people power here on the West Side! Learn more here.
